St James's Church Louth Lincolnshire

Children

St James' tries to be a child friendly place, and a special carpeted play area has been constructed in the north aisle for young children and babies. There are all kinds of toys, books and drawing equipment available, and the area is staffed for the Sunday morning services so that children can enjoy the toys whilst still being part of the service. Parents can choose to be with their children or in the main congregation, or move between the two as they wish.

Sunday School and Junior Church

St James' Sunday School extends a warm welcome to children between the ages of 4 and 8 years old. We meet at Church House, which is very near to St James' Church. Sunday School is held at the same time as the Eucharist Services during school term time, and a diary sheet keeps parents informed of dates and times.

The aim of St James' Sunday School is to try to give the children an understanding of the relevance and importance of Christ's teaching in the world today. This we do by using the Bible as our starting point and then linking it to modern stories and activities based on the Bible, particularly on the New Testament. Prayer and singing are also an important part of our worship. Our hymns and songs are usually modern ones but we do use a number of the old favourites.
